Dong-ahn-guh Day 12 – Craving Rest

My Jungbub Journal – Twelveth Day of Dong-ahn-guh (winter meditation retreat)

Craving Rest

—————

Lately, I feel tired easily. Craving rest.
I take quick naps when I need.
I would feel guilty if I took rest during the summertime.
Yet, it’s the meditation retreat. It’s okay.
It’s a good excuse. I decided to pay more attention to myself.
Listen to my body, reflect my mind and brighten my spirit.

It makes sense. It’s the rhythm of nature. In summer, a tree throws a shadow for travelers. And in fall, it bears fruits. It contributes to others. But in winter, it takes care of itself and prepares for the next year. The cold weather is tough to the tree but it kills the viruses hiding under the ground. If the weather is warm, the viruses can harm the tree next year.

Everything is run by the rhythm of nature. The tree may know it. I think so because trees never complain.

The tree brings all its attention to itself and does the best to endure the winter. This process fortifies the tree. Then the tree gets awarded with one more annual growth ring.

During Dong-ahn-guh, I don’t work over hours for other websites. I focus on taking care of myself, preparing the next-year project, and study more. Only work the basic hours for others.

When I prepare myself well during the winter, I will be able to contribute more next year.
